DExam is a monolingual English language examination which follows CEFR recommendations (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), which measures the general language proficiency needed for communication purposes at elementary, intermediate and advanced levels, in categories matching the candidates’ interests.

Arts or science modules may be selected. Those interested in the social sciences and the arts may display their language skills in tasks on general subjects and the humanities, whilst those with an interest in the natural sciences and technology have a better chance of proving their English language proficiency by choosing the science module in the DExam examination system.

The oral part of the examination is done in pairs. Candidates may stipulate an examination partner when they apply for the DExam exam.
