Key to Integration: Language and Cultural Support for Foreign Employees
The Challenge
The integration of foreign employees at a Hungarian manufacturing company’s production site brought new challenges. Although the foreign employees were technically well-prepared for their positions, the lack of their Hungarian language skills and various cultural differences made workplace communication, social integration, and their everyday life difficult. This impacted not only operational efficiency but also the employees’ overall well-being and sense of security.
The Solution
We organized a “Hungarian as a Foreign Language” course, specifically tailored to the needs of foreign workers in the production site. The objective was a practice-oriented program focusing on everyday workplace and life situations, with the following priorities:
- essential Hungarian communication in the production site
- understanding workplace rules, instructions, and expectations
- mastering phrases necessary for everyday communication
- an introduction to Hungarian cultural characteristics
The training took place in a supportive and safe learning environment, encouraging participants practise their newly acquired language skills.
The Result
As a result of the course, foreign employees now communicate more confidently at work, understand instructions more easily, and cope well in everyday life. Their well-being has shown significant improvement, their sense of belonging to the team has strengthened, and cultural differences have gradually been replaced by mutual understanding.
